WELLCHIME VS LIFE360

WellChime vs Life360

Many families already use Life360 for location, and location is useful. But “where is Mom’s phone?” and “is Mom okay?” are different questions, and WellChime was built for the second one.

What Life360 does well

Life360 is excellent at what it’s for: live family location, place alerts, and driving features, with a huge free tier and paid plans published at $7.99–$24.99/month (Plus through Platinum) as of October 2026 on Life360’s App Store listing. Tens of millions of families use it daily, and it now markets itself to families of aging parents too.

What “is Mom okay?” needs that location can’t answer

A dot on a map can sit at home all day because Mom is resting, or because something is wrong. WellChime adds the signals that help tell the difference: presence and activity, health vitals against her own baseline (our Complete pricing plan), routine patterns like “quieter than usual for three days,” medication follow-through, real check-ins, and suspected-fall alerts with an “Are you okay?” check on supported devices.
WellChime’s free plan includes the live family map too (opt-in, parent-controlled). Complete adds place alerts and full location history. The rest of the paid plan covers health. Complete Family is $249/year ($20.75/mo equivalent, SAVE 31%) or $29.99/month for the whole circle (Complete Individual is $9.99/month for one person) via the App Store. Apple’s localized price is authoritative.
WellChime is also clear about coverage. If the phone is dead, permissions are off, or the watch isn’t worn, the family sees a coverage gap instead of an old dot that looks safe.
Location also works harder for an aging parent in WellChime: when a heat advisory or storm warning covers the place where a sharing member is, the family gets a quiet nudge: “might be worth a check-in call.” Heat is the deadliest kind of weather for seniors, and no family-location app watches for it.
On the Complete plan you can also ask out loud. Start Talk to WellChime with a tap, the Action Button, or a double-tap on the back of your phone, and ask “Did Mom check in today?” or “Where’s Dad?” It answers from your family’s own records, and it only shows location for a parent who chooses to share it.

You can use both

Plenty of families will keep Life360 for the teenagers and add WellChime for the grandparents. If you only want location, Life360 costs less and has been around longer. If you mainly want to know whether your mom is okay, WellChime was built for that.

What WellChime doesn’t do

WellChime is not an emergency dispatch service. We never call 911 for you, and we don’t staff a monitoring center. When something needs attention, WellChime alerts your own family and records whether it reached each person. Calling 911 is still one tap away, and that call is made by a person who knows the situation.
No system detects every fall, including ours. WellChime shows you clearly when monitoring is working and when it isn’t. We call that Coverage Truth, and it’s the part of WellChime we’re proudest of.

Try the free plan

WellChime Free covers both parents and your whole family circle: presence and activity, check-ins, the shared family calendar, the family map (opt-in, updated when people move), Recorder for doctor visits, and Call for Help with recorded delivery status. No card needed, and no trial clock on the free plan. Start free at wellchime.com/onboarding, or compare everything on our pricing page.
